Whisperer Commander Guide
Role: Apple spawn-and-destroy engine — sacrifices a garden of Apples to strengthen everything else.
Availability: Unlocks at launch
Starter Perk: Frugivore
Artifacts:Full artifact kit by commander
Kit Overview
Frugivore spawns an Apple on a random empty tile when your turn begins (as long as none are already on the board). When an Apple is scored as part of a pair it is destroyed, granting +3 Mini-Dice; destroying an Apple also gives +10 XP to all artifacts on the board.
| Item | Rarity | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Big Apple | Common artifact | When your turn begins, give +100 STR to Apple units. |
| Parasite | Uncommon artifact | When you destroy any unit in this column, get +1 Mini-Dice and +2 Mult. |
| Whalefall | Legendary artifact | Each time a unit is destroyed, give 20% of its STR to a random unit. |
| Rat Poison | Rare artifact | When you score a pair in this column, score a random Token unit with +2 Repeat. |
| Wormfection | Perk | When you destroy an Apple, spawn two Worms on random tiles. |
| Bogland | Perk | Your non-Token units gain an "On Death" effect that grants +1 Budge and +1 $. |
How Whisperer Plays
Whisperer is a sacrifice economy. Apples arrive on their own, die on your terms, and every death pays out three ways: Mini Dice, board-wide artifact XP, and — through Wormfection — two Worms per Apple. Whalefall makes every destruction permanent by transferring STR to survivors, and Bogland pays a Budge and cash for every non-Token unit that falls.
Strategy Notes
- Apples only spawn when none are on the board — destroy the current Apple promptly to keep the engine ticking.
- Pair-score Apples in the Parasite column so each death also pays +1 Mini-Dice and +2 Mult.
- Whalefall loves big units dying: beef up sacrificial units before destroying them.
- Rat Poison converts Whisperer's easy pairs into Token unit scores with +2 Repeat.
